reasons why you go to conventions and why cosplay?

as the title says itself... do you have any reasons why you go to conventions?
are you into cosplaying? why cosplaying?
why spend on tickets, souvenirs, costume, ball-joint-dolls or dollfie ( so expensive, hayz cant afford), action figures, cards, cd and dvd, manga and so on...?
why going to convensions?

ill start mine!
conventions i think were i can express more of myself and here i can also meet other people with the same interest!
i can do anything to myself, either anime fanatic on anime items accessories or clothes, panic buying ( haha) anime stuff or busy taking a shot of my fave cosplayer. and gothic clothing is common in events! (people are looking weird at me when then see me in my gothic style, even on just my contact lens! (my reading glasses) )

why spend? i love souvenirs! not all anime and manga you can dowload on net...or somethimes i get impatient in downloading, thats why i buy the complete series! heheh in example, the manga scans of petshop of horror is somewhat rare ( ) or incomplete in net when i first saw it, so i waited to the next con (convention) then i bought in mango x manga the complete manga scans (without asking the price first hehe).

im despirate to have ball joint dolls.... i cant afford those cute dolls...even only its head or eye...
as now im reviving my barbie dolls, good thing i still have one with long blonde and cute one, and still in condition. (i forgot i got alot of them hehehe) making her gothic lolita doll!

why cosplay? i love to sew!! handstitch of course! i dont have any sewing machines and i dont recommend those stapler looking handy sewing machine...pls invest on the real one if you are really dedicated...
and i love to design for me and for my friends... i want to see my creations being modeled by my friends or anybody who appreciate my talent.

2. My friends and I love anime
3. To meet new friends
4. Because my Mom wants me too

1. for expressing myself

3. Because my Mom wants me too and she also cosplays

well ,conventions are my way of expressing how much I love anime/video games and I get to meet new friends and fellow otakus ^^
and My mom is actually the one who chooses the characters I cosplay.... she supports my hobby and she actually likes it... and enjoy seeing other people in colorful costumes ^^ she actually wants me to cosplay kadaj and sometimes bug me to cosplay the character she chose

I costrip in conventions alot ( i prefer it rather than joining the catwalk) I feel happy when I make others happy hehehe.. :3

Whoa, your mom's awesome then.
My mom is living with her husband in CA though, she supports me by far. Mom's are awsome.

The reason why I go is to meet new and interesting people....
Back when i was living in Australia it was hard to find a group...even a small group of anime lovers...So yea i kept my love of anime & manga to myself most of my high school years.

I was surprised when i moved here in the Philippines, there are many enthusiasts and fanatics alike. So its a big sigh of relief for me, meeting people that have the same interests. n_n

-to photograph cosplayers

I join Conventions coz:

Not even an Oz of Otaku blood runs through my Friends' nerves..

It's kinda' sad.. though.. having a hard time promoting Otaku-ism at our place..

where they all think reality is more interesting.. And Anime is'nt Reality.. T_T Huhu..

I enjoy Cons a lot coz' i get a chance to mingle with my Otaku friends from the Net..

Such as Yourselves.. Tee hee..

I love Cosplaying too.. For Me, Cosplaying is the final step to Otaku-ism..

It shows how the Character affects your life.. Your Values, Morals, etc.

They're like Idols/ Role model for those who watch them..

I'm happy Cosplaying.. Meeting fellow Otakus, Playing Yu-Gi-Oh!..


Buying Collectibles at Cons is definitely a must.. for me..

It's like a Memento of the Said event..

After years, Time may pass, Seasons will change, we'll grow old..

But that memento I bought at that certain Con, will live through years and will remind me of the things that happened that day.. (^^,) ~How Dramatic.. (T_T) ~Huhu..

Why watch animes? Repeat the Oath once more and you'll know..

Why Anime?

I once said to my mom.. "Ma! I might as well dig myself into Animes rather than Drugs.." ~Aun! After that..

Siya na mismo nagse-sew ng Costume koh.. Hahaha..
